The operators of AmanaOnline.Com created this resource to make sure that the voices of Arewa are made available on the Internet. We are a group of Northern Nigerians (Amana Association) from various professional backgrounds residing in the Washington DC metropolitan area and other parts of the United States. Our common interests’ and patriotic objectives drive us: to serve and protect the interest of Arewa worldwide. This volunteer organization brings on-line news to the world, from the Arewa perspective.

What makes AmanaOnline.Com special? We are at a stage when Arewa needs a medium to disseminate information accurately and widely to the whole world. The powerful media houses in the North have become weakened by limited circulation. Our voices cannot be heard since we have lagged behind in utilizing the resources provided by modern day communication, namely the Internet. This is where AmanaOnline.Com comes into its element. It has positioned itself as the best existing medium for widely disseminating information about Arewa that is current and up to date.  AmanaOnline.Com is here to broadcast the interests of Arewa to the world. With the evolution of the Internet, AmanaOnline.Com is narrowing the media gap. Since early 2001, AmanaOnline.Com has undertaken this most important mission for all Arewa Communities world wide, which is to ensure that we are not left behind in providing information that can reach millions of people worldwide.

The following are some of the objectives of AmanaOnline.Com

  1.          Be a source of informative news about Arewa and Nigeria in general.

  2.            Publish revealing articles that present objective information about Arewa, from the Arewa point of view and its relationship with the rest of Nigeria and the world.

  3.       Provide information about the history and the culture of Arewa people to the world

  4.       Create a unique Northern identity in the Diaspora, promoting ethical values that enhance the quality of life for all Northerners – at home and abroad, and to catalyze the greater presence of the Northern polity in mainstream Nigerian public life.

It is our belief that many media houses in Nigeria are only interested in promoting their regional views that will continue to dominate and suppress the voices of the North especially in matters of political and economic programs that are vital to the survival of our great Arewa region in the social structure of Nigeria. AmanaOnline.Com is breaking grounds in an effort to provide a comprehensive source of information about Arewa institutions, expose the skills and talent of Arewa journalists that are not given the chance by traditional Nigerian media houses and the numerous contributions of exemplary Arewa leaders to the development of Nigeria.
