BETWEEN
ATIKU AND
LAMIDO: WHO
IS AN
INGRATE?
I am
compelled by
the recent
circumstances
of the word
of attrition
going on
between
Alhaji Atiku
Abubakar
former
Vice-President
of Nigeria
and Alhaji
Sule
Lamido to
chips in a
word or two.
Alh. Sule
Lamido a
proclaimed
champion of
the
Talakawas
and one, who
give the
impression,
that he
belong to
the leftist
political
idealogy and
aligned
with the
famous
champion of
the Nigerian
Talakawas
Late Malam
Aminu Kano
when he
starts his
political
career about
three
decades go.
The Lat
Malam Aminu
of the
blessed
memory adopt
Alh.
Sule Lamido
as a son and
it is
because of
his
alignment
with the
late Malam
Aminu Kano,
that he was
able to
clinched the
exalted seat
of the
Federal
House
of
Representative
during the
second
republic.
But, later
on before
the sudden
death of
Malam Aminu
Kano, Alh.
Sule Lamido
parted ways
with the
late Malam
Aminu Kano
and went
extra-miles
calling
Malam Aminu
in
unprintable
names.
On the other
hand, Alhaji
Atiku
Abubakar
found
himself
on the
political
turf
courtesy of
the late
Major-General
Shehu Musa
Yar'adua the
elder
brother to
the present
President
Umaru
Yar'adua and
ever since
remains with
him with
until his
incarceration
and
sudden death
about en
years ago.
Alhaji Sule
Lamido was
well-known
to have
severed his
relationship
with Alhaji
Abubakar
Rimi whom,
he
regards as
his mentor
and later
Godfather in
politics
just to be
in the good
books of the
former
President
Obasanjo who
appointed
him as
Minister in
charge of
the foreign
Affairs
Ministry
after Rimi
forwarded
his
name to be
made a
Minister.
Atiku
Abubakar on
the other
hand respect
the former
President
Obasanjo and
even stick
out his neck
in the
protection
of the
former
President.
It is a
well-known
fact, that
Alh. Atiku
Abubakar was
the brain
behind
the
emergence of
Chief
Olusegun as
the PDP flag
bearer
in 1999 and
subsequently
rolled out
the
machinery,
that saw the
Otta Chief
becoming
President.
It is
also, a fact
that by the
time, Atiku
Abubakar
retired
from the
services of
the Nigerian
Customs
Service, he
is next to
the Director
of Customs
which was
known
then, as the
head of the
Customs and
fully
entered
into the
field of
business
where he
show his
shrewdness
in art of
making Naira
and Kobo.
But, in the
case of Alh.
Sule Lamido,
who now
occupies
the office
of Governor
of Jigawa
State what
he is
known
as doing is
simply to
open his
mouth and
poured
vituperations
in guise of
been a
politician,
that all
he is doing
is geared
towards the
emancipation
of the
down trodden
while, in
actual fact
it is
emasculation
of the
people.
This writer,
recalled how
the former
Vice-President
rallied
round
support by
dissipated
his energy
and
resources to
see to the
emergence of
Alhaji Sule
Lamido as
the National
Secretary of
the defunct
Social
Democratic
Party(SDP).
Infact, how
could one,
reconciled
what Alh.
Sule
Lamido as
the Governor
of Jigawa is
doing to the
former
Governor of
Jigawa State
Alh. Saminu
Turaki who
made it
possible for
the
emergence of
Alh. Lamido
as
the Governor
of Jigawa
State in
April 2007
election.
Is it not
Alh. Sule
Lamido that,
set the
machinery in
motion to
witch-hunt
the former
Governor by
setting up
a committee
to
investigate
the
administration
of
Saminu
Turaki
before the
EFCC wade
into the
matter and
arraigned
the former
Governor
before the
court?
That is a
clear show
of
ingratitude
exhibited by
Alh.
Sule Lamido
to someone,
that stand
against all
odds to
see, that he
emerged as
the Governor
of Jigawa
State.
Therefore,
the
political
antecedents
of Alh. Sule
Lamido is
quite known
to a lot of
people. He
is best
known to
opening his
wide mouth
casting
aspersion on
the
integrity of
innocent
people just
to curry
favour.
Alh. Sule
Lamido has
for long
time,
distanced
himself
from the
context of
the politics
he cherish
some
decades
ago-fighting
for the
emancipation
of the down
trodden of
the society
to that of
the
capitalist.
The people
need to
judge who is
an ingrate
between
Atiku
Abubakar and
Sule Lamido.
